Plain English, no fine print. Here's exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.

Our Pledge
We will never sell, rent, or trade your information.
Not to other nonprofits. Not to data brokers. Not to CalmWaves or any other organization, related or otherwise. Your name will never appear on a list someone else bought.
We ask for the least we need, we tell you why, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
What We Collect
Four things, and only when you give them to us.
When you subscribe to Field Notes
We collect your email address so we can send you updates from the field. That's it — no name required, no phone number, nothing else. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we honor it immediately.
When your organization applies to partner
We collect your organization's name, your name, your email address, the population you serve, and whatever you tell us about your work. We use this to evaluate the partnership and to follow up with you. We do not add partner applicants to our newsletter without asking.
When you give
Donations are processed by Crowded, not by us. Your card number never touches our website and we never see it. Crowded shares your name, email, and gift amount with us so we can thank you, send a receipt, and keep the records the IRS requires of us. Their handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policy.
When you simply visit
Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs that include your IP address, browser type, and which pages you loaded. We use these only to keep the site running and secure. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking software on this site.
Cookies
We don't use any.
Restore the Last sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. You won't see a cookie banner here because there's nothing to consent to.
Several of our pages embed films hosted on YouTube. We deliberately use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which means Google sets no tracking cookies on your device unless you actually press play. Google still receives your IP address when the video player loads, because that's how the film reaches you. If you press play, Google's own privacy policy governs what happens next.

Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us. No guilt, no retention offers, no delay.
We extend these choices to everyone who contacts us, wherever you live. If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also hold these rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
This website is for adults.
Our work serves children and young people, but this website is intended for donors, partners, and supporters aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
Separately: the people served at our partner facilities are never identified on this site without the informed consent of them or their guardians, and we never publish clinical records. The stories and outcomes we share are used with permission.
Security & Changes
This site is served over encrypted connections, and we limit access to donor and subscriber information to the people who need it to do their jobs. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise — but we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects your data.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant — a new category of data, a new service handling it — we'll say so in Field Notes rather than quietly editing the page.
