The Purpose
Put three CalmBoxes in a Phoenix group home, so kids and staff have a way to calm their nervous systems whenever they need it.
About This Project
Funds three CalmBoxes for a group home in Phoenix serving foster care youth. A CalmBox is a small, personal device, FDA-cleared for anxiety and insomnia. The kids will use them most around family visits, and staff will use them to stay steady for the kids.
Why This Population
Foster care youth carry compounded trauma — separation, instability, and often abuse. Most arrive at group homes already medicated, already in talk therapy, and still locked in fight-or-flight. Family visits can stir up everything. A CalmBox gives kids a way to come back down afterward, so the rest of the support they receive can actually take hold.
It helps the adults, too. A calm adult gives better care, so staff will use CalmBoxes to stay steady for the kids. To protect the kids, we don't name the home.
What Your Funding Covers
Three CalmBoxes ($300 each) for a group home in Phoenix, plus training so staff can use them and help the kids use them. Once funded, this project closes — additional gifts go to the next open project.
